The Helmet

My dearest darling son, is perfect to me in so many ways, so it pains me to say that his head was well a little flat. Because of the "Back to Sleep" program, I was a little aggressive in making sure he was on his back when he was sleeping, plus he favored his left side for sleeping on, resulting in a flat head. Was it my fault, a little, was it the people who try and prevent SIDS fault? Nah, cause I would much rather have a flat head issue than a babe who died of SIDS. So the pediatrician suggested we go see a flat head specialist. So we headed to the specialist who spent less than 10 minutes with us, and said we had no choice but to get our son a nifty helmet that helps direct the brain and head to make it perfectly round. Since I want my little baby boy to be a handsome man (like Brad Pitt.) We went for it. David was concerned over the fact that his ears were not symmetrical.

Anyway wee one goes to this place where they make prosthetic s to get his special, made just for him, more expensive than a NFL football helmet, helmet. After a little bit of work getting accustomed to it-- mostly for Mom who likes to stroke his sweet, sweet, strawberry blond hair he is now a pro at head butting!!! After the first month by the way his first scan showed significant improvement in the rounding of his head.

Those Thighs are Thighs of Steele!!

While I was pregnant with Ethan, Dave and I would always say we wanted a fatso kid this time around, because Alyse is such a string bean. Well, I'm happy to say that sometimes you get what asked for. Ethan has Thunder Thighs, and a Belly--We could not be prouder.

Happy New Years

Tooth Fairy Visits

In the Summer of 2006 Alyse and I had a stroller meets pavement accident. (I didn't put the brake on the stroller rolled off a step and tipped over.) As a result Alyse top middle tooth was damaged, along w/many other scrapes. That night we had a dentist shove her tooth back in, and everything has looked pretty good, the tooth didn't color and looked to have healed. Recently Alyse started complaining about her teeth hurting, so it was off to the dentist. We thought she must have a mouth full of cavities, because she loves chocolate so much. While there she got a clean bill of health until they looked at that tooth. It hadn't made it after all, and it needed to come out. So on Jan. 27, we headed to the dentist. Where we experienced trauma, and the removal of our babies first tooth. There were tears from Alyse and Mom--after all it was my fault. They say it could take 6 mo. for a new tooth or even possibly not until she's 7. She recovered very quickly, and we are telling ourselves it's kind of cute.

Alyse's new smile.

Alyse got $2.00 and a pack of M&M's
she doesn't understand money very much right now,
but
she does respond to M&M's.

Alyse sleeping with gauze in her mouth. She liked it in her mouth even slept the night with it like this. Even though the bleeding quit shortly after the extraction.

Meeting Santa Claus

After the program Alyse and Ethan got to meet Santa Claus and tell him what they wanted. When it was Alyse's turn with Santa she ran up to him exclaiming, "Santa" and hopped on his lap. She than clammed up when he began talking to her and asking her what she wanted for Christmas. I told him a camera, he than told her he was pretty sure she had been a really good girl, and he would try and get one for her. Than her and Ethan got pictures together with Santa. As we were leaving the room Alyse kept yelling, "Merry Christmas, Santa Claus!"

Snow Day!!!

So this is Alyse's first real snowman. One that is taller than her and lasted more than an hour. She proudly rolled the head. Mom sacrificed her back for the rest of the snowman. (probably the first I've made since elementary school.)
